Multiple Units and a Variety of Social Gaming Experiences = Big Increases in Group Revenue

Below is a quick update on the improvements we are seeing in our group revenue for both of our entertainment venues.

 

As we mentioned in our previous newsletter, our fiscal year starts September 1st, which means we just completed the first quarter of our new fiscal year. Below are the increases we have seen in our group revenue from the prior year as well as the first quarter of our current fiscal year.

 

Rochester, New York Venue (Added 16 Social Gaming experiences September 1st, 2023 for a total of 24 – (8) Axe Throwing, (7) Krazy Darts, (5) Billiard Tables, (2) Table Tennis, and (2) Foosball)

 

Fiscal Year 2023/2024 increase in Group Revenue – full year +16.55%

 

Fiscal Year 2024/2025 increase in Group Revenue – 1st quarter +109.03%

 

Buffalo, New York Venue (Added 4 additional Social Gaming experiences in April 2024 for a total of 16 – (8) Axe Throwing, (5) Krazy Darts, (3) Billiard Tables)

 

Fiscal Year 2023/2024 increase in Group Revenue – full year +13.11%


Fiscal Year 2024/2025 increase in Group Revenue – 1st Quarter +57.55%

Axe Throwing (Version 2) at our Buffalo, New York venue. We will be upgrading our 8 Standard Axe Throwing lanes to our Krazy Axes (Version 3) hardware and software within the next 3 months.

Our Rochester venue has more Social Gaming options and more capacity for larger groups. In addition, we have also been updating our Rochester venue about 6 to 9 months prior to making updates at our Buffalo venue. These differences are probably a limiting factor in our Buffalo venue’s revenue growth but, long-term, Buffalo has a lot more room to grow outdoors – especially when we start weatherizing our Social Gaming experiences for outdoor use.

 

Our overall revenue in the first quarter of our new fiscal year, which started September 1st, is only up 2% in Rochester and 3% in Buffalo. The weather was super nice in September and most of October – this affected our walk-in traffic significantly in the first half of our 1st quarter. The weather changed in our favor in late October and thus our walk-in traffic is finally improving. 

 

Fortunately, the significant increases in our group revenue ensured that both of our venues continued to show positive revenue growth. Over the last 7 weeks, our overall revenue growth has been stronger.

 

No Changes

 

It’s important to note that we haven’t changed how we sell or market to groups. The only thing that has changed is that we have increased the number and diversity of our Social Gaming experiences (while also continuing to improve those experiences as quickly as we can).  

 

Today, Social Gaming is our most popular group offering and that’s mainly due to the growing variety of our unique and proprietary Social Gaming experiences.

 

It’s too early to say what the results will be for our second quarter’s group revenue, but our pre-bookings for both our Rochester and Buffalo venues are trending 40% higher than our prior year’s group bookings for both of our venues.

New Social Gaming Experiences

 

We will be testing two new Social Gaming experiences in both of our venues over the next 8 months. The first is likely to be a solid success within the first year because it’s operationally similar to our Krazy Axes and Krazy Darts Social Gaming experiences – it will be its very own unique type of experience. 

 

The other new Social Gaming experience is going to be a bit of a wildcard – it might be a single or a double, but there’s a good chance it will be a grand slam. Obviously, our goal is to make it a grand slam.

 

We believe multiple units and a variety of Social Gaming experiences is the core reason we are seeing a dramatic increase in our group revenue. 

 

Going forward, our goal is to provide our guests with an even wider diversity of unique and proprietary Social Gaming options. This diversity will help us to further increase the frequency of guest visits. The key is having more Social Gaming options than can be experienced in just one visit. 

 

Social Gaming & Attraction Partner Opportunity

 

Purpose:

To provide the Best Owners/Operators with the best proprietary Social Gaming & Attraction experiences that are exclusive to their Venues and Territories. 

 

Why?

 

As a manufacturer and operator of our own proprietary Social Gaming and Attraction experiences, there is no way we are going to sell them to another entertainment venue we are competing with in our market area. If we did, it would totally negate the very reason our venues are becoming more and more unique in the markets we serve.

 

We currently have three proprietary entertainment experiences, which are LASERTRON, (Designed for Adults), Krazy Axes, and now Krazy Darts. These unique and proprietary attractions enable us to substantially differentiate our venues from our competitors. 

 

It’s important to note that all three of our proprietary experiences are designed primarily for adults, which has been our target demographic for our two venues for over a decade. We still get lots of families with kids, but the adults are as eager to play as the kids and teens. In fact, the parents will often leave their kids at home and visit our venues with their adult friends.

 

Competitive Markets Destroy Profits

 

Arcade oversaturation is here NOW! It is a real problem for many entertainment venues and it’s only going to get worse.

 

A significant percentage of the out of home entertainment industry is already operating arcades and those that aren’t are thinking about adding them. The arcade is often “THE” critical profit generator for entertainment venues that already have them, but there are already more than enough arcades in most markets and many are already saturated. 

 

At this point, for every new arcade that gets added to a market area, the pie CAN’T grow bigger, which means everyone currently operating in that market or entering it will be fighting over the size of their slice. Ultimately, profits are going to get competed away as one or more operators try to be the low cost provider in order to attract a bigger share of the pie. Those who don’t lower their prices will ultimately get a smaller piece of the pie. 

 

The reality is that every arcade operator or prospective arcade operator can purchase the same exact games as well as many other attractions from manufacturers and suppliers who have no problem selling to everyone and anyone – even if it means totally over-saturating a market area. Their reason for doing it is totally valid – if they don’t sell the games or attractions to the new venue another supplier will.

 

What’s been interesting for us is the fact that our arcade revenues have gone up in the last few years even though we have NOT purchased a single new game for 5+ years. How is that possible? It’s possible because we have introduced and updated our LASERTRON, Krazy Axes, and Krazy Darts experiences. The best Social Gaming experiences are traffic generators – especially ones that are unique and exclusive to a venue. 

 

We are spending our money on creating the best unique and proprietary Social Gaming and Attraction experiences that our competitors can’t buy. Our unique and proprietary experiences have helped us to increase traffic to our venues, which in turn has helped to maintain and increase our arcade revenue. 

 

I’m not at all negative about the importance of the arcade – it’s just that there are too many arcades in our market area and there are more on the way, which is good for the supplier who gets the sale, but BAD for us and all the other arcade operators already in our market area who rely on the arcade to generate a profit.

 

Important note: As mentioned previously, we will be adding two additional unique and proprietary Krazy Social Gaming experiences to both of our venues over the next 8 months. If these new experiences bring even more guests to our venues and help us to get them back more often, then we will see a further increase in our arcade revenue as well as more revenue from our Social Gaming experiences.

Basic

  • Purchase 4 units of our new Krazy DartsTM or Krazy Axes VIP and receive a 6-month exclusive radius protection for up to 150,000 in population or 5 miles, whichever is reached first.

Silver Partnership

  • Purchase 8 units of our new Krazy DartsTM, Krazy Axes VIP or 4 of each and receive a 2-Year exclusive radius protection for up to 300,000 in population or 10 miles, whichever is reached first.

Gold Partnership

  • Purchase 12 or more units of our new Krazy DartsTM, Krazy Axes VIP or a combination of 4 or more of each to get to 12 units and receive a 5-year exclusive radius protection for up to 500,000 in population or 15 miles, whichever is reached first.

  • Ability to protect (1) additional market area for 12 months

Platinum Partnership

  • Purchase 16 or more units of our new Krazy DartsTM, Krazy Axes VIP or combination of 4 or more of each to get to 16 units and receive a 10-year exclusive radius protection for up to 750,000 in population or 20 miles, whichever is reached first.

  • Ability to protect (2) additional market areas for 18 months

Radius protection extensions can occur when an Operator purchases (4) additional units of a newly released or existing Social Gaming experience (which is not already protected in their area) prior to the expiration of their current radius protection. The owner operator can do this every year, which will enable them to maintain their Radius Protection perpetually for all of their Social Gaming and Attraction experiences.

Important note: when we introduce a new Social Gaming experience and an operator decides to pass or hold off on a purchase, the new Social Gaming experience may be offered to other operators within their protected area, which means it may no longer be available for purchase in the same market area for (x) months or (y) years.
