Social Gaming Venue
Software and Hardware
Who has the best fully integrated Social Gaming venue software and hardware system (i.e. POS, Online Reservations and Payments, CRM/Group Sales, Email/Marketing/Selling Software, Online and Kiosk Food & Beverage ordering, Kiosk Registration/Waivers, Staff Scheduling/Time Clock, and more – plus all of it fully integrated with multiple, Social Gaming experiences)?
The answer is nobody!
Why nobody? A truly optimized Social Gaming software and hardware system has to be designed for a specific type of venue, which means very specific managing, operating, marketing, and selling requirements along with guest service tools that fully maximize each guest’s overall experience from start to finish (i.e. Pre-visit experience, Arrival experience, Social Gaming experience, Food & Beverage experience, Pre-exit and Exit experience, and Post-visit experience).
If the goal is to sell lots of Software to lots of different types of Social Gaming venues as well as other types of entertainment centers, then the quality of the software and hardware will always be mediocre or semi-crappy.
A truly great software and hardware system is ultimately designed to maximize the success of a very specific type of entertainment venue.
Software & Hardware MUST HAVES – It ALL Depends on the Type of Venue.
Most operators may not know this, but for over 30 years LASERTRON has been utilizing its own in-house developed software to Manage, Operate, Market, and Sell all that we do.
We call our software Center Manager Pro.
Is LASERTRON’s Center Manager Pro any good?
Yes, it is very good and probably the best, but only for our very specific type of out-of-home entertainment venue. It’s also the best because we received a lot of input from about three dozen Owner/Operators who also use our Center Manager Pro system. There was also another very important person who provided us with a LOT of feedback.
Let me provide some context,
Our first LASERTRON venue opened in Buffalo, New York on December 28th, 1988. During 36+ years of operating, we learned a lot from a wide variety of people in our industry. With that being said, I have personally learned more from one individual than anyone else and this person is Neil Hupfauer.
What did I learn?
I learned all about the big nuggets that mattered most to managing and operating a business and more specifically an out-of-home entertainment venue. I also learned about the medium nuggets, the tiny nuggets, and even the dust nuggets. It’s important to point out that Neil was just as concerned about the dust nuggets as the big nuggets.
Neil is smart, methodical, extremely persistent, never stops asking questions, always assumes he’s missing something important (i.e. a wise person), is often dead right about the topic being discussed, but not always (probably only 99.999% right). And finally, a true pain in the butt!
The pain in the butt part is closely connected to being right 99.999% of the time. Oh, and did I mention that he is never shy about telling me how I am partly or totally wrong about A, B, C… X, Y, and Z? While this was kind of irritating, I also knew his feedback was what we needed to hear – especially if we wanted to create software that truly helped us to manage all the complexities of operating an entertainment venue.
It’s important to note that Neil was always available to discuss the software tools that were needed and the best ways to integrate them to enable our entertainment venues to be managed and operated at a higher and higher level.
One of the core things Neil and I talked about was the operational software and hardware that didn’t exist or wasn’t fully integrated with the other required software applications.
Over the last 7 years we mostly talked about the software and hardware that was needed to manage, operate, market, and promote our venues – especially ones that had multiple types of Social Gaming experiences and focused on fast casual food and beverage service.
We both understood that there was NOT a good turnkey solution.
During and after every discussion about the “Must-Haves”, I kept track of what he wanted for his venue and added it to our wishlist of software development projects. Our tiny software team just kept plugging away at developing all the software and hardware we believed we needed and tested it out in our Buffalo and Rochester, New York venues.
It’s important to note that we haven’t made much of an effort to sell our management and operating software, but over the years the number of clients’ venues who use our Center Manager Pro (CMP) has risen to almost three dozen.
Center Manager Pro Transformation
Over the last 10+ years, our Center Manager Pro has gone through a dramatic transformation. In fact, about 5 years ago, we finally integrated all the big must-haves. This is when we shifted our focus to digging deeper into the nitty gritty of optimizing all the pieces and getting them to work together more effectively. This is also where we expected to get the most important management, operational, marketing, and sales benefits – ones that would significantly improve our guests’ interactions before, during, and after their visits to our venues. We believed these benefits would ultimately lead to more frequent visits and stronger profits.
This is also when we began to ask for more frequent and detailed feedback from Neil. The goal was to more fully develop and integrate his list of must-haves (i.e. Big, medium, and small). For well over three years, we methodically knocked off Neil’s wish list one by one. In fact, we are still working on additional updates that popped up as we both started using these new, must-have features.
When we started working with Neil to improve our Center Manager Pro system, he was already operating his latest concept, which was Corky’s Gaming & Bistro (Neil recently sold Corky’s and retired for the 2nd or maybe it’s the 3rd time since I started working with him over 28 years ago). At Corky’s, Neil was using 7 different types of software to operate his Social Gaming venue and most of them were not integrated in any significant way.
To make this already long story shorter, see the quote below:
“Jim,
We entered a whole new world of POS systems when we installed Center Manager Pro (CMP) 16 months ago. At last, the industry has a “complete system” that enables us to smoothly manage our operation. With CMP we smoothly handle On Line reservations, POS system, Event & Booking agreements, E-Mail Marketing, Guest Waivers, Time Clock & Staff scheduling, Inventory & Ordering, Kitchen, as well as Kitchen Display & Ticket System, & Intercard Time Play.
By streamlining all of these features into one system we eliminated four (4) separate vendors and reduced our software expense by over $35,000.
CMP has proven incredibly reliable, with zero downtime in the past year. The seamless syncing between cloud and local servers ensures we always have uninterrupted access to our data and tools.”

A few clarifications, our Center Manager Pro IS NOT for everyone and our goal is NOT to sell it to 100 venues a year. Selling to 100 locations would actually be a bad thing at least from an ongoing development standpoint. The continued improvement of Center Manager Pro is way more important to us than selling it to a large number of entertainment venues – especially if it’s not the right fit for most entertainment venues.
Selling lots of Center Manager Pro systems would also slow us down from continuing to make the critical improvements on our list of must-haves, which never stops growing. With that being said, it makes sense for us to install a limited number of Center Manager Pro systems annually, but only in the types of venues that will benefit the most from using our proprietary software. Maybe that’s your venue and maybe it’s not (probably not).
If our Center Manager Pro is designed for your type of venue, you will definitely want it and we will want you to have it.
Below are three additional quotes from long-term users of our Center Manager Pro system:
“In recent years the public has transitioned to a very high preference for making reservations online – both for simple attraction reservations to party reservations. LASERTRON’s Center Manager Pro easily handles all these reservations correctly and seamlessly along with manual reservations and walk-in traffic.
My son worked as a salesman for an online reservation company in our industry. LASERTRON’s Center Manager Pro is so powerful he says if he was in the market for a laser tag system, he’d go with LASERTRON just on the strength of CMP.
As an engineer who has written a lot of software in my former career, I find LASERTRON’s Center Manager Pro both powerful and intuitive.
It’s great I can add a Schedule button to my business Apple maps listing allowing customers to make a reservation right from the app where they searched for my business.”

“Having had 3 different computer systems for my business at once, now only having Center Manager Pro has made managing and operating my business so much more streamlined. There is nothing this system lacks to run my FEC, matter of fact, I probably only utilize 75% of its capabilities.
Not only is the system very well designed, working with Lasertron since 2012 has been fantastic. They are a partner, not a vendor. They constantly go WAY over and above with technical support, whether it’s Laser Tag or Center Manager Pro!
You see something in the system that you want changed, most likely, it will get done. I’m always shooting “wishlist” items at them and when the next update comes, I see them taken care of. There are major updates multiple times a year.
I still have one other system I use that hasn’t had an update to anything in years!!!
Some of the features I like the best are scheduled tasks. Talk about a great reminder system, daily, monthly, yearly. Assigned to whoever I choose. You also get emails if they aren’t done. Really helps keep the business running like a franchise!!!
Scheduling is fantastic. Employee texting is a huge help. Reservations are also highly customizable with fantastic online booking.
I could go on, but I would strongly suggest anyone looking at a system to take a hard look at this one. I’m 100% satisfied with this product. The yearly fee isn’t an expense, it’s an investment in making your business more profitable!
Anyone wanting to ask me any questions on the system is free to contact me through Larry or Jim.”

“Greetings!
Implementing Center Manager Pro revolutionized our operations. It’s the comprehensive POS system we needed, seamlessly integrating online reservations, point-of-sale, event bookings, email marketing, guest waivers, and Intercard Time Play.
By consolidating these functions, we eliminated four separate vendors and significantly reduced our software expenses. CMP’s reliability and the team’s responsiveness to our needs have been exceptional. The system’s uptime has been flawless, thanks to the seamless cloud-to-local syncing, and the support we receive is always prompt and effective.
It’s evident that the same level of quality and commitment that LASERTRON is known for in their hardware extends to their software. This consistency and dedication are truly commendable.”

PS: Quick update on Krazy Darts,
A few weeks ago, Krazy Darts beat Axe Throwing based on the number of plays for a full week in our Rochester, NY venue. We expect this to happen more frequently going forward, in fact, Krazy Darts plays in our Buffalo venue are also catching up to Axe Throwing.
Quote on Krazy Darts from Neil Hupfauer:
“Krazy Darts is an absolute winner for our predominantly adult guests.”
